Spelthorne Orchestra
In the latest episode of the podcast we caught up with David Bruce, the conductor of the Spelthorne Orchestra, who shared the group’s rich history and warm community spirit. Originally formed as the Ashford Orchestra in the 1930s, the ensemble has evolved into a chamber orchestra with a mix of experienced and returning musicians. David spoke about the joy of making classical music accessible, the value of amateur performance, and the brain-boosting benefits of playing an instrument. The group is currently on a recruitment drive and always open to welcoming new members.

CAST Youth Theatre
Also in April’s podcast episode we chatted with Steve Oakes, Artistic Director of CAST Youth Theatre. Steve spoke about the group's recent launch in Shepperton. CAST gives young people a safe, encouraging space to build confidence, express themselves, and be part of something creative and uplifting. The group grew out of a need to fill the gap left by the closure of Dawson Youth Theatre, and the response from families has been wonderful. Whether you’re a budding performer or a parent looking to get involved behind the scenes, CAST is a brilliant example of community spirit in action.
